Staff Spotlight: Mike Gibson

Each person has a background and skill set that makes them vital to our mission. Here we want to highlight one of these team members, Mike Gibson, our Vice President of Land and Business Development.

Mike’s Background

Mike has been in the oil & gas industry for 20 years. He got his start in land at Cinco Energy in 2004 working in the field as a landman. He stayed with Cinco for 14 years and served as the Land Manager for his last seven years there. He was approached by Associated Resources, Inc. in 2018 to help open and run their Houston office, and became a part of the  PetroLedger family following the acquisition of ARI in February of 2023.

Mike’s Role and Day-To-Day

As Vice President of Land and Business Development, Mike is responsible for overseeing all of the lease record and division order work that the company handles. He works out of PetroLedger’s newest Houston office, but helps guide the multiple managers in the land department in both the Houston and Tulsa offices. On the business development side of things, Mike spends much of his time networking and helping to build PetroLedger’s brand to bring in new clients.

Mike’s “typical day” starts early. He’s up at 6:00 am, cup of coffee in hand, checking emails, and preparing for his day. Once Mike is in the office, he hits the ground running, heading up meetings with his managers and having a daily call with our Director of Land Administration, Nan Carlson, to go over what the day will look like and to discuss any new objectives that they might have. After that, it’s on to more networking, lunches with clients, happy hours, and anything else Mike can do to help build the PetroLedger brand.  

What Mike Loves About PetroLedger

Mike describes working at PetroLedger as “fun, fast and furious,” expressing that one the best things about this company is not just the people in the organization, whom he says are a joy to work with every day, but also the work PetroLedger is able to accomplish together as a team. “This industry calls for teamwork in every aspect, and can’t be done by one person.” Despite having a variety of different departments handling different tasks across multiple offices, our employees collaborate well together, ensuring that our clients get the highest quality of service and satisfaction.

There’s Nobody Better

Mike can say with confidence “There’s nobody better at what we do. We are second to none in lease records and division order, and it’s not even close.” He believes that PetroLedger excels as a full-service company, offering not only land services like lease record management and division order work, but also a wide range of oil & gas accounting services to fit any client’s back-office needs.

Mandy joined PetroLedger in September 2022 after serving for almost a decade as the Creative Director at a fine art gallery, where she honed her marketing and design skills. She graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from Abilene Christian University.
