Meet The Team: Kevin Kline

At PetroLedger, we get to know our clients pretty well. We want you to know who we are, too. There’s a lot more personality than you might expect to find at a financial firm, and while professionalism is our first order of business, creating a fun work environment is always close behind! Today we’d like to introduce Kevin Kline, our new Lease Records Manager. We sat down with him to ask a few questions and get to know him a little better…

What is your go-to comfort food?

I grew up in Pennsylvania, so I have a lot of weird Pennsylvania Dutch favorites, but my absolute go-to comfort food is a diner-style hot roast beef sandwich smothered in gravy.

Can you tell me about your background?

I attended a small school, Shenandoah University, located in northern Virginia, where I played college basketball and graduated with a Business Administration degree with an accounting and marketing concentration. After getting married, my wife and I moved to Colorado, and that’s when her father, an industry veteran, encouraged me to get into the oil & gas world. I was introduced to a private operator in 2013 where I started as a land analyst. I was quick to recognize the passion I had for it, playing an instrumental role from take-off title through the leasing program while discovering an admiration for acquisition and divestiture due diligence.

What movie do you think everyone should watch and why?

I’m a big movie buff, and as much as I want to say one with Leonardo DiCaprio, for my favorite, I think I’ll stick to a movie I have watched over 100 times, and that’s Remember the Titans. You get a little bit of everything: a history lesson, football, adversity, determination and grit, and a reflection of why you can’t take your life for granted.

What is your specific role with PetroLedger, including your day-to-day activities?    

I am the Lease Records Manager in our Houston, TX office. My primary focus is coordinating initial set-up, providing detailed analysis and maintenance of lease and contracts while overseeing each project to ensure deadlines and demands are met. We handle everything from lease and title review, land obligation payments and providing customizable reports to your liking. My team strives for client success in the way you envision it and love digging into even the messiest of land data situations - who doesn’t love a good puzzle?

Do you have any hidden talents?            

Being someone who could never throw a frisbee at the beach when I was a kid, I’m now heavily involved in disc golf, which has been something to help me keep my competitive edge. But, I would say a more hidden talent is my knack for culinary knife skills. My wife ever considers me her Sous Chef in the kitchen (or maybe that’s her way of not cutting the vegetables).
