At PetroLedger, we get to know our clients pretty well. We want you to know who we are, too. There’s a lot more personality than you might expect to find at a financial firm, and while professionalism is our first order of business, creating a fun work environment is always close behind! Today we’d like to introduce Simon Cormack, one of our Division Order Analysts in Houston. We sat down with him to ask a few questions and get to know him a little better…
My new year’s resolutions are pretty basic! Exercise more, be more financially responsible, cut down on weekly drinks. I hit all the classics. It’s more of an ongoing effort to be better than actual new year’s resolutions. We’ll see how well it goes this year. In any case, I feel like new year’s resolutions are just there to undo the damage you did during the holidays.
I am an immigrant to the United States. My whole family was born in Argentina, and they brought me here when I was just 2 months old. I hear the 10-hour-long plane ride wasn’t very enjoyable with me there.
I always say “I’m Texan, Argentine, and American. In that order.” My sister and I are both Aggies (Gig’em!) We are first-generation college students— a fact I am very proud of, but my dad is even prouder. I started working in Oil and Gas right out of college and haven’t looked back.
It seems like lately we’ve all been characters in a historical-fiction-horror movie.
All joking aside, I think I would have excelled as a Mafia Capo, so I’ll say crime. Tony Soprano had a big influence on me growing up. I probably watched that show too young. Who wouldn’t love eating prosciutto and capicola all day, or any Italian cured meats for that matter?
I am a Division Order Analyst, or at least I’m trying to be. I have certain tasks that need to be done, but I am generally working on new things regularly. There is always a division order to produce, an interest to transfer, an owner who’s looking for their money. I am still learning a lot though (shout-out to Ms. Stacy Tanet— the biggest and baddest Division Order Analyst this side of the Mississippi.)
Definitely one that only goes backwards. I imagine 99.99% of its usage would be going back 5 minutes to stop myself from saying something embarrassing.
