At PetroLedger, we get to know our clients pretty well. We want you to know who we are, too. There’s a lot more personality than you might expect to find at a financial firm, and while professionalism is our first order of business, creating a fun work environment is always close behind! Today we’d like to introduce Tulsa Regulatory Analyst, Brian Herron. We sat down with him to ask a few questions and get to know him a little better…
The fictional character I identify the most with is Forrest Gump. Forrest showed that simple people can do great things in this world.
I worked in the telecommunications industry for 10 years or so, and I found it to be not very interesting. I spoke with someone at IBM about coming to work there, and I didn’t even realize they did oil and gas accounting— IBM did the oil & gas accounting for BP. I started by doing production reports, and I found a greater interest in doing regulatory reporting in paying severance taxes and royalties. I have been in oil and gas for 20 years now, and I hope to be able to stay in this industry for another 13 years or so when I go buy a new fishing boat and retire!
One skill I think I’m pretty good at is crappie fishing. I love crappie fishing at Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma during April and May. One skill I’m terrible at is ice skating. I can’t stand on both feet for more than five seconds. I always end up getting vertigo and I’m a real mess.
I’m a Regulatory Analyst at PetroLedger. I pay severance taxes for Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, and various other states and agencies. Other activities include setting up new wells in Petro, scanning invoices paid for the month into the correct folder in Teams, helping my manager, Neal Boswell, with any type of projects that he might have. Each day is different, and that is one reason why I like PetroLedger so much.
My happiest moment was when my son was born on September 29th, 2011. I can remember the tears coming from our eyes and thanking God for allowing me to raise a son.
