Here we want to highlight one of these team members, Walter Thomas, the PSG Conversion Manager for our Professional Services team.

Walter’s Background
Walter is a University of Houston alum and has worked in the oil & gas industry for a little over 20 years. His experiences over those two decades have spanned almost the whole gamut of oil & gas accounting – from cash application to JIB and GL reconciliation and pretty much everything in between. He made the switch to ERP software conversions and implementation about seven years ago and continued that work with us at PetroLedger two years ago.
Walter’s Role Day-to-Day
As a PSG Conversion Manger, Walter oversees the mapping, configuration, timelines, and ultimately the best use and practices while implementing a software conversion for our clients. Beyond our clients, Walter provides support to his team and ensures that everyone is effectively communicating with our partners, stakeholders, and clients – both internally and externally. To Walter, that communication is paramount to our success.
“We're trying to make sure that we set expectations so that we ensure a quality process, a quality project and an overall win-win for all of us on the team.”
Walter’s day-to-day always starts with his cup of coffee and a planning session while consulting his team’s project board. This allows him and his team to prioritize and strategize the conversions that they are working on that day, minimizing obstacles and allowing for the team to pass on updates to shareholders as they come up. After that, Walter checks in with his team to see what support they need from him. This balance he holds with his work and team allows for an efficient workday.

To Walter, the best thing about working for PetroLedger is the people. This goes just beyond the culture and relationship that he has with his coworkers, too. He knows that he can rely on anyone on the team to be a wealth of knowledge and be willing to help when called upon. Here at PetroLedger we leverage our people and resources, and Walter points out a unique way that we do that – by bringing in recent college grads and people new to the oil & gas world. They bring a fresh set of eyes, perspective, and new technical skills into the company.
“When I'm stuck, I have a unique resource I can tap into with a call or team chat. We have such a diverse group with years of industry and software knowledge. Some days, it can be quicker, easier, and more accurate than a Google search.”
What Sets PetroLedger Apart From The Competition
When Walter looks at what we do differently versus our competitors, first he sees a team that collaborates and tackles problems differently. Our teams look at the projects before them and come up with solid plans on how to tackle all of the problems presented to us. From there, we make sure that we are meeting client expectations and balancing those with the client’s budget and their needs, all while leveraging our team’s skills and experiences to maximize results for our clients.
“I think that sometimes [passion] might be lacking in the industry that they're just trying to just get you out of there and move on to the next.”
Another difference between us and the other guys is the passion that our team members have for their work and this industry. Walter points out that each member has personal responsibility and ownership over their work, and they put their all into the work that they do for each client. We take the time to understand each client’s individual needs and find a solution that works for them.
