At PetroLedger, we get to know our clients pretty well. We want you to know who we are, too. There’s a lot more personality than you might expect to find at a financial firm, and while professionalism is our first order of business, creating a fun work environment is always close behind! Today we’d like to introduce Courtney Schmidt, our Assistant Controller in San Antonio. We sat down with her to ask a few questions and get to know her a little better…
I was born and raised in San Antonio, and I obtained a BBA in Accounting and Management Information Systems and Master of Science in Accounting from the University of the Incarnate Word. Shortly after graduating college in 2018, I was hired by Eddye Dreyer Financial Services as a data analyst for client software conversions. I was later moved to my current role in what is now PetroLedger. All my industry experience has come from this company!
I really enjoy arts and crafts, which led me into pen pal writing. In a society where emails are used for almost everything, it’s fun to look forward to receiving old fashioned written letters and postcards. It can also be an art to decorate and prepare the letters. It has allowed me to learn about others from around the world, too!
Yes, I have four! I’m a self-proclaimed cat lady with three indoor tabby cats named Pumpkin, Pineapple, and Pistachio. Since I work from home, they keep me company— either through cuddles or mischief! I also have a German Shorthaired Pointer named Snickers, and she is the absolute sweetest dog. And yes, the food-based names have become a tradition!
I’m the Assistant Controller for Avisto Capital Partners, PetroLedger’s parent company in San Antonio. I complete an assortment of tasks such as invoicing our clients, running payroll, general accounting for the corporate books, and financial analysis and reporting for the partners. My tasks change significantly from one day to the next, but I love the diversity and opportunities for growth and learning. I also get to interact with many of our employees, which I enjoy!
My family always did road trips for travelling, so I’d say that’s my favorite way! My most notable memories are from a couple childhood trips to Florida with my parents. We visited Disney World, the Daytona Beach, and the Daytona racetrack— my family and I are huge NASCAR fans, so that was exciting!
