PetroLedger Attends Women in Energy Institute and Charity Pickleball Tournament

Last week, several of our employees were able to attend two incredible American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and NAPE events in Houston — the 2024 Women in Energy Institute and the NAPE Charity Pickleball Tournament. It was a week of fulfillment in more ways than one, and our team feels very fortunate to have been a part of it.

AAPL’s 2024 Women in Energy Institute

Two of our PetroLeaders — Randie Tacker, our Chief Revenue Officer, and Mandy Lambright, our Marketing Director — attended the AAPL’s Women in Energy Institute, which gathers together women (and men) from all across the energy sector. The two-day event, held at the beautiful Hotel ZaZa in downtown Houston, offered attendees an opportunity to network with other women in the industry, and to learn from incredible experts and leaders in a number of highly informative and incredibly powerful panels and talks.

The institute boasted (and delivered) a wonderful welcome reception, breakfast, and mimosas (which is how every day should be kicked off, if you ask us), over 40 speakers covering topics across three different education tracks, a charity wine pull that benefited the attendees almost as much as it benefited the NAPE Expo Charities Fund, and an open invitation to continue networking at the NAPE Charities Pickleball Tournament.

The event was well attended, with hundreds of people from across the country coming together to take advantage of the professional development that WiEI provides in an environment that was notably positive and full of excitement and hope for what the energy industry’s future has in store for us. Attendees left the event feeling empowered, informed, and equipped with the tools (and connections) they need to better not only their own careers, but the energy industry as a whole.

NAPE Charities Pickleball Tournament

Immediately following the Women in Energy Institute, teams, fans and spectators gathered at Houston’s Elite Pickleball Club for the inaugural NAPE Charities Pickleball Tournament. Teams battled it out on the courts (in a friendly manner, of course), with all proceeds from the team registrations and various sponsorships going to the NAPE Expo Charities Fund, which benefits our veterans.

PetroLedger’s own Mike Gibson, Vice President of Land and Business Development, hit the courts with friend and teammate Mike Sumruld, Chief Financial Officer of Parker Wellbore. Team Mikes represented the company well, dawning royal blue PL shirts and taking second place in the tournament. One of our other PetroLeaders, Lease and Title Analyst Preston Harwell, got in on the action as well, volunteering to step in at the last minute to help fill out one of the two-person teams, showing off his skills in the process. Several employees from our two Houston offices also came out to help fill out the cheering section, as well as to take advantage of the networking opportunity that the event provided.

Community is incredibly important to our company and is one of our core values. Check out our other blogs to see some of the ways that PetroLedger gives back.
